Last year both major and minor fishing ventures were spoiled by the weather pulling a fast one on me. Given the mild weather this winter I was hoping for a change in 2012; finally I'd be able to fish when I want to!
I'm fishing Saturday. Unlike my stalwart friends out west, just the suggestion of snow seems to shut down our state (though probably with good reason).
We'll see.
I heard a report this afternoon that DC was expecting 1 inch of snow, so they sent everybody home from work.

I recall a business trip to Raleigh. People were streaming from the building at noon on the threat of flurries. I chuckled. That is, until I found out there's only one snow plow in the whole state and the only salt available can be found in a shaker. The place was crippled for days.
DeleteYikes, look at those lows, never mind about the highs.
ReplyDeleteA flask might be in order.
That's for up in MA. I went on a duck hunt in Greenfield a few years ago and we thought that we'd seen the coldest day of hunting when one morning it was five Fahrenheit. The next time we went up it was zero. That was a cold hunt.
DeleteAnd a flask is always in order. :)
Forget the flask, grab a case and make yourself comfortable in front of the fireplace!
ReplyDeleteI went the entire month of January without wetting a line. I'm overdue.
DeleteYep. I can see it now. Steve, frozen. His line extended behind him in an eternal back cast.
ReplyDeleteI suppose there are worse ways to go.
DeleteIt's called "seasonality". Bunk. I've got the fishing' jones bad! Good luck this weekend. That temp prediction is scarey. Even streamers might not help.
ReplyDeleteLots of weight, fished slow.
DeleteRinse, repeat. You've had practice.
DeleteGood luck.
